Famous conductor Saulius Sondeckis died at 87
At February, 3, famous Lithuanian conductor, People's Artist of the USSR Saulius Sondeckis has passed away. For more than fifty years of creative activity he has given over three thousand concerts around the world. He worked with leading musicians and ensembles, opened new names, was a jury member at international competitions. Colleagues and the audience appreciated his high professionalism, refined musical taste and creative boldness, combined with respect for the best orchestral performing traditions.

"An irreparable loss - truly unique Musician and Person has gone... The meaning of all his existence was to selflessly serve art. We were friends since 1960-s, both in the work and in life.

Artist creates public opinion for itself throughout his work. Saulius Sondeckis' renome was flawless.

One of his top achievements is rightly considered the interpretation of Mozart's music. His "Requiem" with its electrification and "embroidery" accompaniment was a masterpiece I have not heard anywhere.

Communication with this amazing musician has always been a great joy for me. The bright memory of exceptionally gifted creator and wonderful man will always remain in my heart".
