S. Rachmaninov. The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom and All-Night Vigil (1998)
"You are aware of neither day nor night, but by devoting the night to vigil, you turn both times into day, without changing anything external. Yor nights are without sleep, and the power of dreams has ceased, for the love of Christ has conquered the weakness of nature (the prelate St. John Chrysostom)".
Two great works of Russian "Silver Age" composer became the basis of this release. "The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom" and "All-Night Vigil" are the Orthodox liturgies filled with ideas of light and joy, salvation from sin and death and hope of eternal life. Both works rightfully belong to the treasury of Russian choral music.
